Easy Crafts for Kids....and Me!

The main inspiration for this easy crafts for kids web site comes from my own two wonderfully cheeky, creative little boys, who quite often beg to make box models whilst I'm still in my dressing gown!

I also work as a child-minder, caring for children from as young as 3 months right up to teenagers, and have often found that easy craft projects can entice even the most reluctant children to join in and have fun.

How I began...

I have always loved arts and crafts, and some of my fondest childhood memories are of making things and learning new crafts at home with my Mum. She still has my first sewing project and wonkey clay pots on display even now!

I loved any art and crafts that were on offer at school too and went on to study Art and Design at college. I then specialised in Metalwork and Jewellery Design at university and graduated with a BA Hons Degree in 2003.

When my eldest son was born
I put my design career on hold to be at home with him and with my second son who came along 2 years later. I found being at home with my children fantasticly rewarding, so I decided to re-train as a Childminder in order to earn a living whilst enjoying the company of my beautiful boys!

I soon realised that if I wanted to combine my love of crafts with my passion for working with children, kids crafts would be the way to go. I was quite happy making yoghurt pot girrafes and box-model robots with the children I care for at home, until my mum suggested I create a web-site that would broadcast my craft ideas to the world. When I thought about her suggestion I realised that she was quite probably right (as most mums are!). I was relying on my own imagination much more than I was on other peoples craft books or web-sites, so I decided to take the plunge.

Where I am now...

So, I now have three jobs....full-time mum, child-minder and now, web-site author and designer! I really hope you enjoy the crafts I have shared so far, I'm pretty new to web-building but am very much enjoying the challenge. I am adding more and more easy crafts for kids each week, so please keep checking back to see whats new.
