Pirates and pirate crafts are always a popular choice in our house.
When my two little ones play 'pirates' they don't need much help to create a fantasy world of sea-faring adventures.
They use the blankets from our sofa, spread out on the floor as a pirate ship and much loved, knitted sailor jackets (courtesy of their doting great-grandma) become their pirate costumes.
However, some simple craft projects can enhance their role-play world brilliantly. With a pirate hat, a treasure map and a trusty parrot, your little sea-dogs could sail the seven-seas all day, well....until tea-time beckons them ashore, at least!
Every pirate captain needs a hat, and this easy craft idea will get the kids sticking and glueing to create a homemade hat of their very own!
You can also use the skull and crossbone template as a colouring page.
If your little pirate needs a parrot friend, have a go at making this easy parrot craft project.
A pair of red socks and a few bits and bobs from your craft box are all that you need to get started.
Add a quick and easy skull and crossbones to your kids craft projects with my printable stencil template.
I've included some ideas on how you could use the stencil and step-by-step instructions to make and use the stencil itself.
